Timberview Trees

One of Timberview's most attractive features is our trees, which includes a large number of mature trees, predominantly Red Maples, Sugar Maples and Pin Oaks, that line Hollow Timber Court and Way. In our common areas, we have hundreds, if not thousands, of trees. Because of their importance, since 2010, Timberview treats our streetscape trees as common property; i.e. Timberview Cluster Association assumes responsibility for their welfare, regardless of their location, as some are on common property and some are on private property. This includes pruning, elevation, treatments, removal and replacement as appropriate.

To be clear about scope, the Association's tree program covers our streetscape trees (the mature trees that line Hollow Timber Court and Way, regardless of whether they sit on private or common property) and all other trees located on Timberview's common property. Trees located elsewhere on private lots — including trees that may simply be visible from a street — are not part of this program and remain the responsibility of the individual homeowner.

Among the responsibilities of all HOA Boards is the safety of its residents and property, this is something the Timberview Board takes very seriously. It is to be expected that over time, some trees will die, some will cause damage to roads and sidewalks, some will cause cracks in the foundations of houses and some will cause soil and erosion problems. In 2019 it became apparent that many of our streetscape trees, as well as many common area trees, needed some attention.

As part of the Timberview Beautification Project, Timberview Board engaged with Sav-a-Tree, a Reston Association recommended tree company, to review our trees and work with us on a comprehensive Tree Plan. We are very pleased with the initial results and the ongoing relationship. The Board meets with our arborist twice yearly to review all of the trees in the community.
