FAQs

When are the HOA Meetings?

Timberview HOA Meetings are posted on the calendar. The meetings are held virtually with the exception of the Annual Meeting, which is held in person.

When do I have to complete my paint/stain update?

At a Reston Association DRB meeting in February 2020, an updated color palette was approved for Timberview Cluster Association. Starting in February 2020, residents painting their homes must use the paint and stain colors approved at the 2020 Reston Association DRB. This includes house color, trim, garage door, and front and side entry doors.

ALL Timberview Buildings should complete updating front and side entry doors and garage door colors no later than August 14th, 2021. ALL Timberview Buildings entire exterior stain updating should be completed no later than January 14, 2026. You may be cited during an inspection to paint prior to 2026, in which case, whole buildings should be completed together (within the same calendar year).

What type of light bulbs should I use?

For all outdoor light fixtures, you should not exceed 40W LED bulbs. They should be clear, warm and not exceed 3000 Lumens. 2700 Lumens is preferable. An example can be found here.

Why do we have HOA dues?

Some homeowners question why they have to pay what is commonly known as the “member assessment” or “dues” when they move into a homeowner association. While the term “assessments” may be technically correct, these fees are actually property maintenance fees. When the collective buying power of the entire association is factored in, they prove to be more cost efficient for individual homeowners. These fees cover landscaping, trash removal, association administration, maintaining healthy trees and more. They also include savings for future neighborhood expenses such as repaving our private roads and maintaining walkways.

When is our Annual Inspection?

Sentry Management will complete our Annual Inspections in the beginning of Spring. They will follow the Timberview Checklist to complete the inspection and follow-up with homeowners on required maintenance. The checklist is a guide, but items beyond the list may also be cited. Although there is a yearly inspection, citations for violations that need to be addressed may be sent any time of year.

Who is our Management Company?

Sentry Management is the company that helps Timberview run smoothly. Management companies guide and consult with the board of directors to fulfill their duties. Execute the decisions, directives, and policies approved by the board of directors. Document transactions, accounting and otherwise, activities, and records of the association.

Do I need a DRB application for that?

Any exterior modifications including landscaping may need a DRB application. Before making changes or alterations to your property, contact Timberview’s property manager to find out more information on next steps. Timberview’s covenants advisor at Reston Association will determine if a DRB application is required.
